May, 2010 TO: ALL PARTICIPANTS OF THE WARRIORS' DAY PARADE Re: 89th Anniversary Warriors' Day Parade, Sat., August 21st, 2010 The Warriors' Day Parade is pleased to continue the tradition started after World War I of honouring our veterans in celebration of various events. This year's theme is the celebration of 200 Years of Cavalry and the Governor General's Horse Guards, the 150th Anniversary of the Queen's Own Rifles of Canada, The Canadian Naval Centennial, and the 65th Anniversary of VE Day. Enclosed please find the following information in regard to this year's Parade: (a) 2010
Parade Order [four pages], We look forward to Saturday, August 21st, 2010 and our 89th Warriors' Day Parade, the longest continuous Parade of its type, which will once again remind Canadians of the importance of the personal sacrifices made by members of the Canadian Armed Forces in protecting the freedoms we all enjoy. Although we try to find a special theme for each parade, each year is an important year to honour our veterans and their service. NOTE: The route for the 2010 Parade has changed. This year's parade will relive many of our past parades with the reviewing stand located on Princes' Boulevard, directly in front of the Direct Energy Building. We are delighted to advise that GO Transit has once again approved a blanket offer of free transit trips to veterans, plus one companion, or immediate families of deceased veterans on Warriors' Day and Remembrance Day. Other transit companies have also signed on to this program for 2010. For a complete list please check our website for updates from other transit providers within the GTA. This is the 132nd year of the Canadian National Exhibition. As always, we wish to thank the Canadian National Exhibition Association for its continued support of the Warriors' Day Parade over the last 89 years. The Warriors' Day Parade Council looks forward to your participation in this year's Parade on Saturday, August 21st, 2010. It is the intention of the Warriors' Day Parade Council to continue to hold this annual Parade as long as there are participants and support. We also take great pleasure in announcing the attendance of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Walt Natynczyk. General Natynczyk enjoyed his visit with us two years ago and we look forward to welcoming him once again. See you on August 21st.
